The University of Victoria Libraries’ Digital Scholarship Commons taught over 20,000 workshop participants between April 2017 and July 2022. Over 1,300 of those participants earned an informal credential, or digital badge, for successful completion.

Training and credentialing programs have grown in popularity. However, the wide and varied nature of what defines the term “makerspace” often means that skill-building and training ecosystems frequently exist in silos.
